Characteristics of black currant

For 12 years of cultivation, Dobrynya has gained an excellent reputation. It easily withstands frosts up to 25 degrees, and in shelter and below 40 degrees. Resistant to spring frost. It does not die during prolonged drought, although the berries are smaller without watering.

Has a good yield of 1.6 to 2.4 kg per bush. Due to the fact that the bushes are low and they can be planted at a distance of 80 cm, it gives more fruits per unit area. The variety is early-growing and pleases with its first fruits the very next summer after planting. In rainy years, the fruits remain sweet. It is immune to powdery mildew and kidney mites. Fruits annually and abundantly.

Features of planting and growing varieties Dobrynya

There are few differences in the agricultural technique of growing Dobrynia. And they are mainly explained by the characteristics of the variety. Varieties of intensive type enter fruiting in the second year after planting. They require good fertilizer and regular pruning. At first only sanitary, and then rejuvenating. In industrial cultivation of this variety, only annual branches are often left when pruning. This makes it possible to obtain crops from plants for 12 years or more. Perhaps one of the amateur gardeners will want to conduct this experience.

When planting, 4-5 kg of humus or good, ripened compost and 1 cup of wood ash or any complex fertilizer according to the instructions are introduced into each hole. Subsequently, organic and mineral fertilizers are applied annually. This is a condition for obtaining high yields and large fruits.

An important condition for the successful landing of Dobrynia is the proper compaction of the soil. The variety has a rather weak central root and it needs to be densified well without damaging the root hairs. The soil should settle on its own without much external pressure. Therefore, the dates of autumn planting in central Russia are chosen no later than September. And, of course, in the first days after planting, daily watering is needed.

The rooted seedling of a grade of Dobrynya

Another important note: in the Dobrynya variety, two-year-old seedlings are better taken root when planting. And before planting, it is advisable to hold the roots of a seedling for a day in a solution of Kornevin or another root growth stimulator. This condition is explained by the rather weak ability of the variety to form root hairs when propagated by cuttings, especially in the southern climate.

Reviews

Blackcurrant Dobrynya tolerates short-term frosts and drought. My rating: 4. I recommend it to others. The variety of Dobrynya currant is distinguished by rather large berries. By maturity dates refers to mid-season. This variety is winter hardy, but for the winter I cover it. It’s a pity if such a miracle dies. The bush grows to a meter and a half in height, sprawling, the mass of berries is 3-7 grams. From the bush, I manage to collect about two kilograms of berries. Care is to cut old, dead branches. I do this in early spring, and in the spring I feed plants. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, but prone to brown spotting. For treatments I use Bordeaux liquid. I pay special attention to pest protection. Regular loosening of the soil under the bushes and watering is the key to your harvest.

Yesterday, two bushes of Dobrynya were completely covered, so that the ripening is friendly. The taste is great. Despite the rains almost no acid.

My Dobrynya obviously does not reach 7 grams, but the berry is still very large. And it does not mature very well. Although, if the first berries are overexposed while the rest are ripe, then it is possible to cut the crop together with a twig. I did not find bursting berries against the background of lingering rains on the bushes.

I prefer A.I. Astakhova: both sweet and large. This is primarily Selechenskaya 2, Sevchanka, Perun, Dobrynya.
